4 Dead Girls (2012)

Lily and her friends finally get a place of their own after renting a house off campus, but there is a sinister evil that lurks within that is looking to consume their very souls! 4 DEAD GIRLS is just a terrible film. A really terrible film. We start with a cast of untrained actresses who spend more time undressing than rehearsing their lines. Mike Campbell and Todd Johnson manage to make nudity unappealing and boring through the lengthy and pointless sex scenes. The Soul Taker can't quite capture souls of the clean and pure of heart, though, can he? Abysmal special effects, poorly written characters, and it is impossible to take Mike Campbell seriously as the villain. No group of girls would ever be willing to move into a fully furnished home with only a suitcase full of personal belongings, either. 4 DEAD GIRLS, but no potential audience.

Halloween (1978)

Although HALLOWEEN is credited as being the prototype for the modern Slasher picture, we find that it hardly shares anything in common with films like FRIDAY THE 13TH or MY BLOODY VALENTINE. These films strictly rely on shock and exploitation over a growing tension and suspense, and are modeled far more closely after the Italian efforts like BAY OF BLOOD or BLOOD AND BLACK LACE. John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN is in a class unto itself. It is an experiment in terror that continues to haunt audiences nearly forty years after its initial release.

HALLOWEEN follows a young group of teens who are stuck babysitting on this frightful night. Unbeknownst to them, an escaped lunatic has broken free from the local sanitarium, and has made his way back to the small town of Haddonfield with the fretful Dr. Loomis hot on his trail. As each of the teens settle in for the night, the masked killer makes his approach, knife in hand. The boogeyman is real.

With HALLOWEEN, John Carpenter has demonstrated a complete control over film as an art form. From his specific use of color to the chilling score, Carpenter marries each of the individual elements within the medium to produce a growing sense of suspense and an oppressive mood that carries us through until the final frame of the film. Lighting is key in HALLOWEEN. We see the juxtaposition of Michel Myers' white mask contrasted against the absolute darkness of the hallways in each of the houses, warning us of his presence. Carpenter does something more with each death, as well. Not a single drop of blood needs to be shed for us to feel the sheer impact of each of the murders. Myers strikes with a ferocity that is unmatched by any other killer within the genre, yet there is a macabre beauty to each death as he admires his handiwork. The murder of Bob, in particular, is shocking in its simplicity, but nonetheless brutal and unexpected.

Haddonfield could be any town in Midwestern America, a look that producer Debra Hill strove to achieve when staging the film. This is no remote hotel. We have left the misty graveyards of Eastern Europe. Death has finally found us in our own backyards. Not only that, but it is our friends or our children that are now at risk. Jamie Lee Curtis plays the quiet girl next door perfectly as Laurie Strode, a seemingly fragile and vulnerable character than is forced into action when faced with certain death. She is the progenitor of the "final girl," the sinless virgin who is the only one left to defend us against this faceless evil. Donald Pleasence stars in his defining role as Dr. Sam Loomis, who is really quite maniacal in his own right, as well. Loomis is convinced that Myers is a being of pure evil, and that his must be stopped at any cost. As we will continue to see later in the series, Loomis is willing to take any risk to capture and kill Michael, though his methods are often called into question. Evil, itself, takes the shape of Nick Castle, whose imposing stature and expressive use of body language give Michael Myers a terrifying personality that is as cold and soulless as the knife that he wields.

Although John Carpenter has generously borrowed from earlier films like BLACK CHRISTMAS, HALLOWEEN is still given credit for establishing many of the defining characteristics that make up the Slasher genre. It is perhaps the purest and most unadulterated form of any Slasher film, cutting away the unnecessary elements of sex and gore to make room for the more effective moments of unbridled terror. HALLOWEEN is every bit the classic that it has been made out to be, and it has been director John Carpenter's finest achievement.

Scenic Route (2013)

What starts off as an innocent road trip turns into a struggle for survival when Mitchell and Carter's truck breaks down off of an isolated road deep in the desert. The two are forced to confront their own failures as tempers flair and accusations fly while awaiting any signs of salvation. Kevin and Michael Goetz take us down the SCENIC ROUTE in this gripping psychological thriller that tears at the soul. As lifelong friends, Mitchell and Carter are able to dissect each others' lives with clinical precision, taking vicious stabs at one another for minor faults and major life choices. These are real characters with real thoughts and emotions, and it shows. Kyle Killen's keen scripting comes flying off of the page as Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler lose themselves in their characters and tear into each other emotionally and physically. The film was produced by Andrew van den Houten (“Funeral Kings,” ‘’The Woman”) and Robert Tonino (‘’Home Movie,” “The Girl Next Door”) for Modernciné, and stars Lauren Ashley Carter (“The Woman”), Sean Bridgers (“Deadwood”), Sean Young (“Blade Runner”), Larry Fessenden (“You’re Next”) and Daniel Manche (“The Girl Next Door”). The film was executive produced by Lucky McKee, Arrien Schiltkamp and Loren Semmens. JUG FACE won the Slamdance Grand Prize Screenwriting Award in 2011 and debuted as a Special Screening selection at this year’s festival. The critically acclaimed film was released nationally in theaters on August 9th. This marks the first title under the newly minted home video output deal between Modern Distributors and MVD Entertainment Group.

The deal was negotiated by Ed Seaman, C.O.O. and General Manager FOR MVD ENTERTAINMENT GROUP and Andrew van den Houten, CEO of both Modernciné and Modern Distributors.

Ada, her family and a small isolated backwoods community worship a mysterious pit. The pit has the power to heal and protect all who honor it but at a deadly price...it demands an occasional sacrifice. The pit communicates through the local potter who, while in a trance, crafts ceramic jugs that carry the face of a person to be sacrificed to the entity that lives within it. Ada has a secret about the latest jug face that she's determined to keep hidden but the pit demands a sacrifice and unleashes an evil onto the community until it gets who it really wants.

“We are honored to be working with Modernciné and Andrew van den Houten. They have a commitment to bringing us high quality films like Jug Face, and we are looking forward to sustained high integrity content together in the coming years,” said Ed Seaman of MVD Entertainment Group.

“Jug Face is unlike anything being released into a marketplace that is fraught with sequels and remakes. Chad Crawford Kinkle’s originality and voice allow for an unexpected and welcomed addition to the horror genre,” said Andrew van den Houten, producer.

Modernciné most recently debuted the much anticipated horror comedy ALL CHEERLEADERS DIE, directed by Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson, at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival as the opening night film for the 25th Anniversary Midnight Madness screening section.

Brutal Massacre (2007)

BRUTAL MASSACRE is Stevan Mena's ode to the Horror genre, its filmmakers, and its fans. Coming off of the underground success of his Slasher hit MALEVOLENCE, Mena decided to move on to Comedy, using the "Mockumentary" shooting style made popular in The Office to deliver his story. This film-within-a-film finds Horror director Harry Penderecki on the shoot of his comeback picture, BRUTAL MASSACRE, where anything that can go wrong, does go wrong. With no money, less talent, and limited time, this rag-tag team of filmmakers must come together to finish the project and save their careers! BRUTAL MASSACRE boasts an impressive line-up of familiar genre faces and an incredibly witty script that falls just short of genius. David Naughton (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON) leads as the inspired but utterly helpless Harry Penderecki, while being joined by Ellen Sandweiss and Besty Baker (THE EVIL DEAD), Gunnar Hansen (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Ken Foree (DAWN OF THE DEAD), and many others. Mena uses the light tone to make clever strikes at the film industry, commenting on many of the toughest issues facing struggling filmmakers who are forced to compromise their integrity and vision in order to earn financial backing. At the same time, he also pokes fun at many directors' overwhelming sense of self-importance and pretentious attitudes towards their own films, which is best shown when Harry is found deflecting accusations of misogyny and gratuitous violence with meaningless psychobabble. Though the writing is very smart, the timing and dry deliveries often undermine the humor, but genre fans will enjoy seeing their idols in some of their sillier performances. While it may not be perfect, BRUTAL MASSACRE is an entertaining reflection on the genre that is sure to appeal to the Horror fans for whom it was intended.

Night of the Demon (1957)

Jacques Tourneur, director of both CAT PEOPLE and I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, delivers this top-rate psychological thriller from 1957 that is just as shocking and powerful today as it was at the time of its release. NIGHT OF THE DEMON follows Dr. Holden as he arrives in London for a seminar in which he hopes to disprove the existence of witchcraft in modern society. It is here that he quickly incurs the wrath of a local warlock, who places a demonic curse over his head just as he had done to Dr. Holden's friend just a week earlier. Holden refuses to give in to the same superstition and fear that seized his friend's heart in an icy death grip, but as the date of his supposed death draws nearer, he grows increasingly alarmed by the odd occurrences that are unfolding all around him.

It has long been debated whether or not Tourneur originally intended to reveal demon to the audience rather than subtly alluding to its presence, which may have been a decision that was influenced by the film's producers under the same circumstances that occurred in CAT PEOPLE. In spite of this possibility, the towering beast that steps out of the smoke in NIGHT OF THE DEMON has become one of the most frightening and memorable creations in classic Horror. Its earth-shattering appearances at the beginning and end of the film are fearsome spectacles of special effects and costuming.

While NIGHT OF THE DEMON does function as a chilling creature-feature, Tourneur succeeds on a much larger scale in creating a brilliantly-crafted mystery that builds itself around the themes of auto-suggestion and mass hysteria. By placing the medieval ingredients of black magic and demonology into a modern, real-world setting, he is able to contrast superstition and science, leaving it up to the viewer to decide whether the unfortunate victims have given in to hypnotic suggestion and fear, or whether the gates of hell have literally opened to unleash one of their fiery spawn. Had the physical embodiment of the beast been removed entirely from the picture, it may have proven to be even more effective in this regard.

The exceptionally spooky atmosphere and spine-tingling mood that can be found all throughout CAT PEOPLE and I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE are ever-present in NIGHT OF THE DEMON. Tourneur's dark forests are drowned in ethereal lighting and a creeping mist that recall the Gothic settings of the Universal classics. An increasing sense of dread permeates from each of the characters as simple coincidence begins to give way to fate. Dana Andrews and Niall MacGinnis are superb opposite one another, one being the skeptic and the other being the true believer. Their final confrontation aboard the train offers a clever exchange between the characters that is rife with humor and suspense.

Jacques Tourneur proves, once again, that he is a master in his field, and NIGHT OF THE DEMON is one of the greatest accomplishments in the genre.

ROOM 237

The Shining Documentary Now Available to Watch on SundanceNOW!

LOS ANGELES, CA - September 25, 2013 - After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. Rodney Ascher’s wry and provocative Room 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with cultists and scholars, creating a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of Kubrick’s still-controversial classic:

Image Entertainment is set to release Odd Thomas in Q1 2014. Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisitions Officer for Image Entertainment made today’s announcement.

“Director Stephen Sommers’s spectacular style and extraordinary vision translates so well to the big screen for this material,” said Bromiley. “We are proud to distribute the film and introduce the magical world of Odd Thomas to a wider audience.”

One day, however, a mysterious man comes to town with a filing cabinet stuffed with information on the world’s worst killers and a pack of hyena-like shades that follow him wherever he goes. Who the man is and what he wants, not even Odd’s deceased informants can tell him. What happens next is a mysterious battle between light and darkness.

'Out of Place' to Debut This Halloween!

Thrilling New Series Takes You

First episode of "A Seat on a Train" prepares for its world wide release!

LOS ANGELES, CA- September 25, 2013 - If you love "The Twilight Zone" then you will become an instant fan of "Out of Place!" The release will happen online, Halloween 2013, showing all day and night, on Facebook, Vimeo, You Tube and IMDB for free. "Out of Place" blends the psychological thriller with the classic surrealism and sets stage for some truly dark melodrama to come from future episodes. The acting is superb, with characters that are believable and emotive..."

Spencer is fixated on keeping everything in its exact, specific place. His obsession is so extreme it has cut him off from the outside world and is now threatening his five-year relationship with his girlfriend, Samantha. After Samantha walks out on a romantic dinner he has prepared, he soon becomes a victim of his own obsessive behavior when random objects around his condo mysteriously shift out of place when he's not looking.

Director/Writer Daniel MacMunn explains where his passion comes from- If you love "The Twilight Zone" then you will be an instant fan of "Out of Place." I have always been a huge fan of Rod Serling's hit classic, creepy series from the early 1960's. Many people have tried to duplicate this series but have fallen short in my eyes. "Out of Place" is the first episode of a series I created called "A Seat on a Train." I don't want to copy Rod Serling's genius, but pay homage to it. I believe my ideas and skilled writing will bring back that great old style of story telling, while piquing the interest of the modern day viewer. I have written many other episodes, ready to be filmed, that pertain to our modern times. "Out of Place" is the first brave attempt of this series. It was shot very low budget, in one location with two characters. It has that creepy style of filming with original music enhancing the story. I hope "Out of Place" will be the kick start into a long run of "A Seat on a Train."

A Seat on a Train description- A single seat on an old train has a very peculiar talent. For when a passenger sits, they're warped into another reality where they're confronted with major flaws, concluding with a twisted lesson at the end.

Future episode descriptions-

The Perfect Woman (Episode 2)-‐ A successful, good-looking businessman, Andrea, discovers an odd solution to nagging women in relationships. He buys a real life sex doll, a doll that looks and feels like a woman but is not real and most importantly, can't think. But his perfect world is shattered when the doll begins to talk and make demands.

The War is Over (Episode 3)-‐ Sergeant Cignerella and his platoon are celebrating the end of the war. But Sergeant Cignerella has one large setback, neither him nor anyone else can figure out how or when the war ended.

Death Behind the Door (Episode 4)-‐ At an séance, a cynical Tristan is told by a psychic that there will be three knocks and death will be behind the door. Tristan dismisses the prediction but becomes increasingly wary when his friends' fortunes start to come true.

A Story To Tell My Grandchildren (Episode 5)-‐ A retired Janitor, Morgan, wishes he could go back in time and pursue his boxing career so he would have better stories to tell his Grandson. But he will soon discover that a wish doesn't always bring the future you expect.

Festival Awards for "Out of Pace"
- Official selection of The Green Bay Film Festival
- Winner of best short at The Best Shorts Competition
- An Award of Excellence at The Accolade Film Competition
- Selected for screening at The Hot Springs Horror Film Festival in October-

Now we are ready for the public release. What we are trying to do here, is to get as many people to view "Out of Place" on Halloween and after. Our goal is 100k views. We know this is a lot but feel this concept is very marketable. In conclusion we hope to gain enough of an audience so we can show the networks how popular our show is and hopefully get picked up in the near future.

In the near future, we hope to collaborate with undiscovered, talented writers, actors and directors just like Serling did. We want to honor Rod Serling by continuing his great vision, creepy themes and unique story telling. Most of all, we want to help launch careers of these artists while entertaining and creeping out a large fan base with original stories that pertain to our modern times.

Horrible Imaginings Film Festival Returns to Southern California!

San Diego Welcomes the Return of the
Horrible Imaginings Film Festival

October 24 - 28, 2013 at the Digital Gym Cinema in San Diego, CA

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 19, 2013 - At Horrible Imaginings, it is our mission to celebrate horror and its various sub-genres by showcasing new and independent artists, as well as reviving classic horror films in San Diego, California. From psychological thrillers to supernatural horror to slashers and even to related genres like noir, horror's power lies in its inherent ability to take our fears and exploit them--helping us either to face them, or just to appease our dark sides. The proliferation of horror sub-genres in the arts is testament to the creative power behind/within this dark domain.

With the dual mission of reviving classic horrible films, combined with giving the screen to up and coming new film makers, Horrible Imaginings Film Festival promises to be a new force in San Diego that is here to stay. As one audience member put it, “San Diego is too sunny! We need some darkness!”

Horrible Imaginings Film Festival 2013 will be taking place over FIVE full days at the Digital Gym Cinema in San Diego, 2921 El Cajon Blvd. Tickets are EXTREMELY LIMITED for this fun-filled event, and must be purchased through the link below:

A word from founder Miguel Rodriguez:

"If you are like me, you know that the horror genre can and does offer more than most people give it credit for. Many of us feel most at home while watching movies that chill our spine, or make us laugh at the darker side of life.

When I moved to San Diego, the city had no film festival dedicated to horror. This was unthinkable. As most horror fans know, Hollywood is not so great at satisfying us--great horror comes from the independent artists who truly understand what it is to go someplace dark. Without a horror film festival, we are stuck with VOD or Netflix, robbing us of the true horror community that makes this genre truly worthwhile.

Since starting Horrible Imaginings, I am proud to say that I have helped foster and grow a horror community in San Diego. It is one where people can talk about the genre they love with other people who truly understand them. I believe this is an invaluable thing, and I would hate to see it dissipate!

Please, please, please share this on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and wherever else you think people will be interested in joining the cause. If you are an artist who can add perks to give to contributors, that would be FANTASTIC! I plan on adding perks as the campaign progresses. Please keep an eye out for updates!"

New Clips Uncovered from 'Skinwalker Ranch'

Deep Studios Reveals Found Footage From
Inspired by true events - In theaters October 30th!

LOS ANGELES, CA - September 19, 2013 - Deep Studios has released the theatrical poster and first teaser clip from a frightening new flick called SKINWALKER RANCH. It stars Jon Gries, Kyle Davis, Steve Berg and Devin McGinn, and will be hitting theaters across the country on October 30th. The film is inspired by true-events and reports around “Skinwalker Ranch" (http://skinwalkerranch.org/) in NE Utah, which started gaining media attention a few years ago (including Jesse Ventura’s ‘Conspiracy Theory’ and most recently ‘Joe Rogan Questions Everything’ on SyFy) after years’ worth of reports of a wide range of unexplained phenomena. The film touches on these reports ranging from mysterious orbs and alleged UFO sightings to giant wolf-like creatures and livestock mutilation:

SKINWALKER RANCH is a found footage movie that starts with the disappearance of ranch owner Hoyt Miller’s eight year old son, Cody on November 11, 2010. Modern Defense Enterprises (MDE) sent a team of experts to document and investigate the mysterious occurrences, which only escalate upon their arrival… The incidents become more violent, causing tensions to rise as the team must decide how far they will go to unlock the mysteries of “Skinwalker Ranch.” The group debates whether the answers are worth risking their lives for, or if they should just call off the investigation and leave the ranch – that is, if leaving is actually an option…

Countdown to 'Murder Eleven' This October!

“The Countdown Has Begun!”
Arriving on DVD October 22, 2013!

LOS ANGELES, CA - September 19, 2013 - Murder Eleven is a tale of a serial killer working in the streets of Atlantic City. This crime thriller and horror film had its World Premiere at the Down Beach Film Festival. Here, the film won three awards at this film festival (“Best Actress,” “Best Writer” and “Best Use of Atlantic City”). As well, the film centrally stars Jim Klock (Bitch Slap), Autumn Federici (The Blackout), Julienne Irons, Michael Mack and Richard Reid. Now, the film is set to release on DVD, through distribution house Indican Pictures. The final DVD artwork has recently been released and horror fans can view the grisly graphic here.

In the film’s story, Detectives Jesse (Reid) and Mayfield (Mack) are tasked with solving a brutal series of murders. A mysterious serial killer has stalked and captured ten women, from the streets of Atlantic City; each one has turned up dead. The killer’s next target is Katey (Federici), a desperately vulnerable prostitute and drug user. Katey was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Now, Katey is in the hands of the killer and the detectives only have a few hours to find her, before her time runs out.

Murder Eleven was shot over twelve days in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The cast and crew mostly utilized night shoots, with much of the film shot during the witching hour. Director Klock, who also stars in the film, says of the shoot and the film: “my goal was to make a film that was uncomfortably realistic and to keep the viewer interested in these characters.” These characters must make decisions, which may save a life or end it. Actress Federici, who plays Katey, found her role challenging: “Katey was a dark and twisted role to play. I was bound, gagged, and tortured for the entire shoot." The character Katey is also bound in the DVD artwork for the film (attached). Murder Eleven will release on DVD October 22nd, 2013 and fans can preview the release details here.

Release Date: October 22nd, 2013 (DVD)

Bloody Homecoming (2012)

Homecoming is a special night in any teen's life... Except for Lauren and her group of friends, who are mercilessly massacred three years after the accidental death of one of their own. Has their long-dead friend returned to life to seek revenge in a fireman's uniform? BLOODY HOMECOMING embraces all of the defining characteristics of the classic 80s Slashers, and succeeds at recreating the look and feel of the films, both for better and for worse. The atrocious teen acting and asinine plot devices actually work in its favor, and bring the film more closely in line with the original PROM NIGHT and GRADUATION DAY. What's better is the actual gore, which relies solely on practical make-up designs. While there are no jaw-dropping decapitations or head explosions to be found, the simple but bloody effects are an admirable addition to the genre. BLOODY HOMECOMING may not deviate at all from the 1980s Slasher formula, but that is what makes it a refreshing homage that pays the proper respect to its roots.

Rating: 4/10.

The Black Waters of Echo's Pond (2009)

A group of friends uncover a mysterious board game hidden deep beneath their vacation home on a remote island retreat, but what they don't realize is that the board serves as a portal to the devilish realm of Pandemonium, and that those who play it succumb to a fate far worst than death! It is easy enough to dismiss THE BLACK WATERS OF ECHO'S POND the Horror genre's answer to JUMANGI, but director Gabriel Bologna works in a campy sense of humor that more readily reflects the cult films of the 80s like NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. Outside of the basic premise, unfortunately, the film suffers from an unimaginative script and stiff wooden characters that utterly fail to engage the audience. With the board influencing people's thoughts and emotions, petty rivalries quickly boil over into fighting and bloodshed, but none of the 'revelations' that are made between friends come as any sort of shock at all. The production design, on the other hand, surely does. The game board looks great, and it is only a pity that they did not take more advantage of the fiendish costume that was used for Pan. THE BLACK WATERS OF ECHO'S POND is overacted and underwhelming at best.

Rating: 5/10.

New Poster and Trailer for Brillante Ma Mendoza's 'Sap'

Get Possessed By
New Trailer Debuts Online!

TORONTO, ON - September 9, 2013 - Fresh out of the Toronto International Film Festival comes the poster and full-length trailer for Cannes award-winning director and festival vet Brillante Ma Mendoza's first horror film, SAPI. Mendoza has directed several internationally acclaimed films such as SERBIS, KINATAY, LOLA, CAPTIVE and last year’s THY WOMB. SAPI had its World Premiere in the Vanguard section of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th, and has received a great response. It will have one more TIFF screening on September 15th. Check out the new trailer below:

With the rival station Philippine Broadcasting Channel (PBC) eating up the TV audiences' major share, Sarimanok Broadcasting Network (SBN) needs a miracle to stay alive in the competition. In these mad and fearful times, SBN's news team finds that documenting an actual spiritual possession would be their only hope.

Tasked to head the documentary production is MERYLL FLORES, a trainee TV Executive producer, along with DENNIS MARQUEZ, the reporter. Needless to say, the success of the project will also secure their eventual promotion in the company. However, the miracle seems to evade Meryll's team. They go to distant places, schools, provincial areas, religious groups, and faith healers, just to cover the case of mass possession, but to no avail. They simply cannot find a single incident of possession. Worse, BARON VALDEZ, cameraman of the rival network PBC, is the one who was able to capture the isolated case of demonic possession that involved a high school teacher (Ruby).

To fulfill her task, Meryll enters into a deal that is more profoundly horrifying than the harrowing scene of paranormal possession. The US is About to Get 'Stalled'

LOS ANGELES, CA - September 9, 2013 - Uncork’d Entertainment has inked North American theatrical, V.O.D., digital and home entertainment rights to the critically-acclaimed horror comedy STALLED. The film debuted recently at Film4/FrightFest in the U.K. to two sold-out screenings with a third being added due to the demand. STALLED was written by Dan Palmer and directed by Christian James. The film will have its North American theatrical premiere at the recently opened Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, TX, followed by additional theaters in early October 2013. Uncork’d Entertainment’s Keith Leopard made today’s announcement.

“STALLED is one of those projects that people can’t seem to stop talking about," commented Leopard. “It’s got a bit of everything – horror, comedy and zombies. Think ‘Evil Dead’ but in a restroom. We’re pleased to be working with these creative filmmakers to unleash their film in the U.S. and Canada”

“It’s always great to work with people that are smart, well-connected and genuinely enthusiastic about films,” commented Christian James, the director of STALLED. “And this sums up Uncork’d. We are sure they will flush away the competition when STALLED is released this fall.”

Dubbed “one of the cleverest films seen to-date,” STALLED is like no other zombie film. An unlucky maintenance man finds himself stuck in the ladies restroom during a zombie apocalypse. The film stars Dan Palmer (Small Town Folk), Antonia Bernath (Elvis), Mark Holden (World War Z) and Giles Alderson (The Possession of David O’Reilly).

“Director Christian James and writer/start Palmer, who previously collaborated on Freak Out, deliver something surprisingly fresh…” said Screen International’s Kim Newman. “…this is a worthy successor to Shaun of The Dead and Harold’s Going Stiff in its mix of homage to past zombie film glories and very British social comedy.”

Alan Jones, Co-founder of FrightFest commented about STALLED, “Consistently hilarious, brilliantly executed, cleverly constructed and visually imaginative. Director Christian James’ remarkable comedy horror is The Evil Dead meets Phone Booth in a toilet.”

The distribution deal covers North American rights for theatrical, VOD, home entertainment and digital. The deal was negotiated by Leopard for Uncork’d and by Odin’s Eye Entertainment Michael Favelle, for Stalled.
