Horrible Imaginings Film Festival Returns to Southern California!

San Diego Welcomes the Return of the
Horrible Imaginings Film Festival

October 24 - 28, 2013 at the Digital Gym Cinema in San Diego, CA

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 19, 2013 - At Horrible Imaginings, it is our mission to celebrate horror and its various sub-genres by showcasing new and independent artists, as well as reviving classic horror films in San Diego, California. From psychological thrillers to supernatural horror to slashers and even to related genres like noir, horror's power lies in its inherent ability to take our fears and exploit them--helping us either to face them, or just to appease our dark sides. The proliferation of horror sub-genres in the arts is testament to the creative power behind/within this dark domain.

With the dual mission of reviving classic horrible films, combined with giving the screen to up and coming new film makers, Horrible Imaginings Film Festival promises to be a new force in San Diego that is here to stay. As one audience member put it, “San Diego is too sunny! We need some darkness!”

Horrible Imaginings Film Festival 2013 will be taking place over FIVE full days at the Digital Gym Cinema in San Diego, 2921 El Cajon Blvd. Tickets are EXTREMELY LIMITED for this fun-filled event, and must be purchased through the link below:

A word from founder Miguel Rodriguez:

"If you are like me, you know that the horror genre can and does offer more than most people give it credit for. Many of us feel most at home while watching movies that chill our spine, or make us laugh at the darker side of life.

When I moved to San Diego, the city had no film festival dedicated to horror. This was unthinkable. As most horror fans know, Hollywood is not so great at satisfying us--great horror comes from the independent artists who truly understand what it is to go someplace dark. Without a horror film festival, we are stuck with VOD or Netflix, robbing us of the true horror community that makes this genre truly worthwhile.

Since starting Horrible Imaginings, I am proud to say that I have helped foster and grow a horror community in San Diego. It is one where people can talk about the genre they love with other people who truly understand them. I believe this is an invaluable thing, and I would hate to see it dissipate!

Please, please, please share this on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and wherever else you think people will be interested in joining the cause. If you are an artist who can add perks to give to contributors, that would be FANTASTIC! I plan on adding perks as the campaign progresses. Please keep an eye out for updates!"
