Cabin Fever: Patient Zero (2014)

Marcus' bachelor party weekend is ruined by an unfortunate bout of flesh-eating virus that he and his friends encounter on a deserted island. Now, they have just one chance to escape the island alive before the contagion can spread. CABIN FEVER: PATIENT ZERO gives us little to go on here. Its pedestrian plot devices tread all-too-familiar territory as we travel down the road of forgetability. Mitch Ryan and his fellow castmates have carved their niche, acting in sub-par Horror features where their equally-unimpressive acting can go unnoticed by most of the outside world. Director Kaare Andrews is at least able to maintain some small shred of seriousness and dignity up until the comically-absurd catfight between two female characters, who disintegrate before our very eyes as they tear the flesh from each others' bones and literally beat each other to death with a giant black dildo. How do you expect to come back from that? Were it not for the considerable amount of gruesome special effects and gore, CABIN FEVER: PATIENT ZERO would have nothing to offer most Horror audiences.

Rating: 5/10.
